Rolling, Rolling, Rolling on the floor!

Houston, we've got a roller on our hands!!  To say that I'm a proud mama is an understatement....this is one of those milestones that every parent looks forward to and when it actually happens, it makes you beam with pride!  So although Mia has actually rolled over a few times previously ~ either in her crib or at the sitter's house ~ no one has actually witnessed it.  She has been going back to side or side to tummy when we're playing on the floor, but she hadn't done it consecutiveuly until this past Friday (thankfully I had taken the day off from work, so perfect timing baby girl!).

We were at my girlfriend's house helping her pack up her closet and other personal things since she is unfortunately leaving Florida (we'll miss you Aunt Lex!) and I had Mia on a blanket on the floor in front of a full length mirror.  I was watching her while helping box and bag up clothes, but at one point turned around for longer than 2 seconds and when I looked back she was on her tummy!  I couldn't believe I had missed it!  I rolled her to her back and stood there waiting for it, not wanting to chance missing it again...but of course a watched pot doesn't boil and a watched baby won't perform her newest "trick," so I stood around the corner of the bed and watched in the mirror.  Sure enough, a few seconds later, she rolled over to her tummy again!  I started clapping and cheering and she just looked at me like, "oh, you saw that Mom" and started smiling and giggling.  So of course as soon as I got home, I put her on the floor to show Daddy her new trick.....here is our 'big' girl so happy to be on her belly!

The only problem she has is rolling back over to her back....so that has created some issues at night.  A few nights ago, I started leaving both her arms out of her swaddle since she was so close to rolling and I was nervous she wouldn't be able to push up with only one arm.  Now that she is literally on a roll with this rolling business, she does it all the time, day or night.  If she rolls over in her crib, she gets stuck, wakes up, and starts crying, so I have to go upstairs and roll her back over and calm her down.  Last night I put the flat sleep positioner in her crib in order to prevent her from rolling over every half hour, but then she got mad because she couldn't roll....it's a lose/lose situation for mommy who didn't get much sleep last night!  I hope tonight goes better since tomorrow is Monday and I'm back to work :(  In addition, we took the bumper out of her crib, so now it looks so bare, but I was worried she would press her face against the bumper and not be able to breathe.  Ah, the joys of parenthood!

Other than rolling, I love spending time with my best buddy, Tripp....he just loves to roll around on the floor with me :)

Don't mess with my baby sister....or else!
