Wanna Go For A Walk??

I think when I ask this question, both my kids - the two legged and four legged - look at me and start wagging various body parts to show their excitement!  What dog doesn't love going for walks around the neighborhood?  I think Tripp enjoys it even more now that he has a sidekick to join him....albeit in a stroller, but he is so well behaved when we are walking with Mia.  Now if I take a walk with just one of them, I feel naked since the other isn't there too!

Some pics of one of our favorite family pasttimes....hi Mommy!! :)

Scoping out squirrels and lizards on our morning walk

Isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen?

Bright, sunshine-y day!

Looking forward to even more walks once the heat of summer subsides!  I think we are all over the summer weather (although it does make for a nice excuse to enjoy our other favorite pasttime - swimming in the pool - pics of that to follow soon!).

Fun at Five Months

Not really sure where another month has gone, but my sweet little love is getting bigger, more active and if possible, more adorable, with each passing day!  She is such a happy little girl and is constantly smiling, laughing and 'talking' when we are at home....however, when we are out and about running errands or going for breakfast or lunch on the weekends, she is so enthralled with her new surroundings that you can barely get her attention.  She loves to check out everything around her and doesn't want to miss a thing (so she takes very few naps unless we're home these days!).

At 5 months, Miss Mia is keeping busy by:
~Perfecting her back to tummy roll and has done tummy to back a few times (still not a huge fan of rolling that way for some reason)

Ha ha!!  Mommy's funny if she thinks she is going to get me to stay in one spot long enough to take a good picture!

~Grabbing and picking up toys and passing objects from one hand to the other
~Putting her paci in her mouth by herself
~Spending a lot more time sitting in her bebePod
~Trying out her jumperoo ~ she isn't quite sure what to do with all the toys and how to exactly 'jump' just yet, but I'm sure she'll have that down to a science in no time!

I'm supposed to do what here??!!

In addition, she is now eating 2 tablespoons of rice cereal in the evenings (up from 1) and I plan to begin a morning feeding of rice cereal this weekend too.  I was putting that off for awhile just because the mornings are already so hectic with getting her up and ready for the day while trying to get myself ready for work...not to mention the days Daddy goes to work and I have to take her to the babysitter's (I feel like I've worked a whole day before I even get to the office sometimes!).

Playing in my bouncy chair before "dinner"!

I get a bath right afterwards since I LOVE to make a mess...
Peek-a-Pooh :)

Oh, and the other big 'development' that has occurred in the past week is that Mia has finally noticed her big brother, Tripp, and is obsessed with him!  It is so funny how she all of a sudden realized that he was there (even though he is constantly in her face when she's playing on the floor) and now watches his every move!  I look forward to when those two are chasing each other around!

My Newest Obsession

Is everything girlie - from tutus to diaper covers to leggings!  It is so hard to restrain myself from buying all the cute things I see online and in stores for my sweet baby girl, but I have been good (or somewhat decent I should say) given that her closet is already packed to the gills with clothes thanks to everyone's generosity!  However, I still peruse websites occasionally and have come across some great ones on Etsy....namely Bella Claire Baby, which led me to Hannah's Tutus' website and a great give-away (and thanks to all my terrific friends, we won Mia her first tutu!).  To say I was excited is an understatement....

Here is a photo of the tutu that Miss Mia will be sporting this holiday season :)
Hannah is hosting another give-away this week, so if you would like to win one yourself, head over to her page on Facebook and check it out - http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?topic=210&post=1203&uid=131668296845836#!/topic.php?uid=131668296845836&topic=210!

Oh, and some of my other faves are Rufflebutts and Babylegs....frills, bright colors and fun holiday gear, oh please someone stop me! :)

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling on the floor!

Houston, we've got a roller on our hands!!  To say that I'm a proud mama is an understatement....this is one of those milestones that every parent looks forward to and when it actually happens, it makes you beam with pride!  So although Mia has actually rolled over a few times previously ~ either in her crib or at the sitter's house ~ no one has actually witnessed it.  She has been going back to side or side to tummy when we're playing on the floor, but she hadn't done it consecutiveuly until this past Friday (thankfully I had taken the day off from work, so perfect timing baby girl!).

We were at my girlfriend's house helping her pack up her closet and other personal things since she is unfortunately leaving Florida (we'll miss you Aunt Lex!) and I had Mia on a blanket on the floor in front of a full length mirror.  I was watching her while helping box and bag up clothes, but at one point turned around for longer than 2 seconds and when I looked back she was on her tummy!  I couldn't believe I had missed it!  I rolled her to her back and stood there waiting for it, not wanting to chance missing it again...but of course a watched pot doesn't boil and a watched baby won't perform her newest "trick," so I stood around the corner of the bed and watched in the mirror.  Sure enough, a few seconds later, she rolled over to her tummy again!  I started clapping and cheering and she just looked at me like, "oh, you saw that Mom" and started smiling and giggling.  So of course as soon as I got home, I put her on the floor to show Daddy her new trick.....here is our 'big' girl so happy to be on her belly!

The only problem she has is rolling back over to her back....so that has created some issues at night.  A few nights ago, I started leaving both her arms out of her swaddle since she was so close to rolling and I was nervous she wouldn't be able to push up with only one arm.  Now that she is literally on a roll with this rolling business, she does it all the time, day or night.  If she rolls over in her crib, she gets stuck, wakes up, and starts crying, so I have to go upstairs and roll her back over and calm her down.  Last night I put the flat sleep positioner in her crib in order to prevent her from rolling over every half hour, but then she got mad because she couldn't roll....it's a lose/lose situation for mommy who didn't get much sleep last night!  I hope tonight goes better since tomorrow is Monday and I'm back to work :(  In addition, we took the bumper out of her crib, so now it looks so bare, but I was worried she would press her face against the bumper and not be able to breathe.  Ah, the joys of parenthood!

Other than rolling, I love spending time with my best buddy, Tripp....he just loves to roll around on the floor with me :)

Don't mess with my baby sister....or else!
