Well the lil p-nut turned four months yesterday and had her 4 month well visit today....she is growing like a weed!! She is up to 13 lbs 14 oz and 24 1/4 inches long (50th percentile for both height and weight) and she did so good, minus the scream (that literally broke my heart!) when she got her shots. This time around was much worse than the first time...she was happy as a clam just chilling with mom and took the oral vaccine no problem-o, but then those needles came out and the red-faced, soundless scream that takes your breath away appeared! Thankfully it only lasted about 30 seconds and then she was back in my arms, safe and sound, and passed out in her car seat before we even left the exam room. I sure hope that her pain tolerance continues to be so good....and that she doesn't end up like her mom who almost passed out when she got an IV in the hospital on the day of her arrival!
At 4 months Mia Beans is becoming more and more active and loves to:
~Play for long periods of time on her activity mat (as opposed to the 15 - 20 minutes that she would give us before)
~Spend more time on her tummy and use that strong neck to turn her head and look around
~Roll onto her side (but can't quite get all the way over without a little help from mom or dad)
~Blow bubbles and make raspberry sounds
~She was sleeping great up until about a week ago when she started waking up twice during the night :( Fortunately she isn't up for long ~ usually eats for about 5 minutes or less and then drifts back off to sleep and will not even move when I put her back in the crib
~Naps are still a battle ~ some days she naps great and others we are lucky if we can get two 1/2 hour naps in (those are usually on the days daddy is home with her!)
~She is starting to play during feeding time, which means it takes longer for her to eat, but how can you get upset when she just looks at you and giggles
~Continues to love her walks and now looks up thru the opening in the back of the stroller at you
~In general, is just a happy, cuddly little bear (just like her stuffed animal!)
Another milestone today was her first taste of rice cereal! The pediatrician told us to go ahead and try it, but to use a spoon at first. I didn't make it too thick, so she was having a hard time getting any of it in her mouth between it being so watery and her not really knowing what to make of a spoon. She kept sticking her tongue out and then laughing, so after a couple of tries, we just put it in a bottle and she downed it! I think we have a food lover on our hands....I'm in trouble if she's anything like her dad!!
Breaking out her "M" bowl for the first taste of real food (if you can call rice cereal food that is)
Hmmm...this spoon thing looks interesting mom
Now what am I supposed to do with this stuff ~ spit it out or swallow it?

Happy 4 Months, Miss Mia! I looked back to see what Elise's 4-month stats were; she was 15 pounds, 2 ounces (86th percentile) and 26.5 inches long (99th percentile. We're lucky to have such healthy babies! :)
Can't wait to squeeze those squeezable cheeks. Love you guys.
Can't believe she is 4 months!! don't know where the time is going! Can't wait to see her again soon :)
